Default Howdy..New here couple of questions.

Downloading Titanium and thought I'd just say a quick hello and thank the guys who set Project99 up for the opportunity to play classic EQ again, awesome stuff.

I played on Innoruuk back in the day and am pretty excited to play EQ again, I can't believe I didn't signup for this sooner but life got in the way and I've got more free time now.

Debating between a Warrior and a Necro......whats the need like for tanks? How tough is it to get groups at low-mid levels?

Also, which PVE server would you guys recommend? I'd prefer to be on a populated sever, especially with Velious coming out, however a populated newer server would be ideal.

Anyway, thanks and I'll see you in the game.

Hey Lhtalon, i am also a returning EQ player. When selecting a server it will give you the population of each server to the right. I cant recall the name of the server as it was my first time logging in last night but just select the most populated server. The servers were more active than i anticipated so you should not have a problem finding a group. If your looking for someone to level with just let me know. I would give you my ingame name but i havent decided on a class yet. Just shoot me your characters name and i would be happy to do some adventuring with ya.

There are three (technically two) project 1999 servers: blue (highest population PVE), red (pvp), and beta (which doesnt really count because it's only velious).

So the only choice for you (if you want PVE) is going to be the blue server.

I don't think you'll have much issue getting a group as a warrior, but you will have some issues holding aggro at the mid levels. There are nice proc weapons available but things die so quickly you can't really ever count on them. No one really waits for the tank to build up some threat here so that's another issue.

Group with someone who can root and hug the mob's nuts.

Necro is a good choice if you're willing to solo much more - they're extremely efficient solo'ers. Sesserdrix wrote a dissertation on the Necromancer class that is pretty great - It'll help you find good spots to solo (just google it). I wouldn't expect too many group invites as a Necro.

Hello thee Lhtas! Glad to see you found the project. As Cucs stated, there is really only one p99 pve server and one pvp server, the only other being the Velious test server which will poof when that xpac launches.

Overall tanks are probably the least played classes and warriors are popular with a particular subset of the population and are not generally discriminated against by any. Be advised though that you don't stand a snowball's chance in solusek's heart of holding aggro until at least mid 30's - 40's when you can start using procs to build aggro. Until then and even beyond just attack things, press your taunt button and tell group members to root mobs ( make sure you are closer to the mob than anyone else) if they complain about aggro.

I've not seen many necks get turned down for groups, but then I've not seen many looking for them either. They are as always solo powerhouses, w/ iksars leading the charge ^^ ( if slower than others )

Welcome to P99! I too played on Innoruuk, see my sig for notable character/guild. I just wanted to say if you havent given shadow knight a thought, you can be the hybrid version of warrior/necro. Snap aggro is easy enough to obtain early on with disease cloud/darkness snare as needed. Later you get added ability to effectively fear-kite solo, and don't forget Feign death.

Keep in mind that shadow knights do have the class hybrid penalty, good luck on a decision!

Hey thanks for the info gents.....Logged in last night on the PvE server and created a Warrior named Gohr ...same name as my warrior twink on Innoruuk from way back when. I probably had the most fun with that toon in particular back in the day but its much different without the twink gear, I got killed by a bass ass spider on my first pull, good fun!

I'll prob roll a Necro as well and see which I enjoy more. The Necro is prob going to much easier starting from scratch as they are not as gear dependent as warriors.

Kaezyr, I certainly remember The Defiant, pretty high end guild I knew few members in there as well, however really tough to remember the names from a dozen years ago years ago....
