Default Class for just starting out?

like the title says im just starting eq again. now i have a lvl 8 mage and a lvl 5 necro. just wondering if i should stick with one or the other as a good starting class. i kinda want to do a warrior but i tried that and kept dieing alot lol.

i see a ton of druids and i always liked them back on live. just havent gotten around to rolling one yet.

just wanted to hear from a few other peeps at 50 what would be a good starter class =)

you may want to pick an int class because they're far easier to gear than a priest or a melee/hybrid.

mage>necro>wiz>chanter

chanter's tend to be a bit more gear dependent.

Go necro. You can farm platinum and gem drops like a mage, as well as farm a lot of the good high-end drops similar to an enchanter. Best of both worlds.

If you want to build up wealth on the server efficiently, I'd say the order is something like necro > enchanter > druid > mage > shaman.

If your end goal is to play a warrior. Play a Warrior.

Doesn't make any damn sense to play a mage/necro/druid so you can play your warrior. EQ is all about groups, group up with others and you'll have that safety buffer.

Naked melee is a very rough road.

It's not rough at all, that's what groups/duos are for. Team up with someone, make friends, enjoy that group bonus.

You might not level as quickly, but at 50 you'll be highly sought after while all these mage/necro/druid bozo's will be sitting around for hours LFG due to the over-saturation of their class.

The easy road is not always the best road. Now that's Classic EQ for ya.

And when Kunark comes you can solo in Howling Stones amazingly well.

You can do this, but from experience with making a farming toon first...you'll be much happier if you make a necro. It's no fun to be a 50 warrior, unable to farm anything, broke and depending on a group or guild to gear you out. It is however quite fun to be an;e to solo almost anything you'll need, be wealthy, and when you level that warrior it will be both faster and more enjoyable. Just saying...

+1 for playing what you enjoy. Sure the road to the top is going to be harder as a warrior, but if you like playing warriors then who cares.

Sure beats spending a ton of time leveling a necro with the ultimate goal of leveling a warrior (in my opinion). However thats all relative to how much time you have / how long it takes you to level, etc.
