not able to log into the p99 server

I played a few years back and tried loading it up on a new computer. After a fresh install, following the instructions, and finally remembering my correct user/password to login I get the following screen:

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I have wandered the forums and seen a number of times that it was suggested to change the screen resolution. I've tried this with my native resolution (1920x1080), 800x600, and 640x480(minimum res)... still no luck and it stops at the same point. not really sure what else to try.
