Default Ancient Cyclops SRo thoughts

Lets look at what we know:
1. Only spawns at night (9pm to 7am game time)
2. Can spawn anywhere in the desert area
3. 30.6 minute respawn time (assuming its still accurate)
4. Placeholders are: Sandgiant Husam, sand giant, desert madman, barbarian male dervish cutthroat, a mummy (also assuming accuracy)

If the above is true, it would seem like the ideal method would be to kill all possible placeholders at 11am, giving it a respawn time at 9pm just as night falls. Clear all placeholders again as quick as possible, and it should have another chance to spawn at 7am as night ends. If it doesn't spawn at 7am, leave the placeholders alone until 11am to repeat 2-chance-night cycle. Unfortunately this is easily broken up by other players in the zone killing the placeholders between 7am and 11am.

Can anyone confirm this is accurate?

This was in januaries patch notes. Dont know if this helps or if anyone actually pinned down place holders or if he is just random chance of spawning between those hours. "Nilbog: Rewrote South Ro Ancient Cyclops script. He now only spawns at night with definitive spawn % chances. Previously only spawning in one location, the AC now will be random in the desert area."

I still wish we had evidence proving my claim that he was immune to fire.

He'd resist every single Sunstrike I casted on him on live.

My mage on live got his boots from the Sro ac and at like 3am in the morning he spawned and I remember almost crapping myself when my flame bolts kept getting resisted. I ended up taking him down by chain casting pets. His fire resist was very high or immune. This was back in 2002 time frame though. *edit* had to look up release dates because luclin hadn't been released yet. So it was in 2001 velious era.

this camp can still be claimed then if you are the one clearing the placeholders right? Because I noticed a bunch of people show up at night just to snipe the thing from whoever was camping it. From what i gather from people trying to spawn it this is very common anymore. Far more common than say the Pegasus in south K which is a similar type of spawn

As it is considered random spawn it usually follows free for all since you can't sit on a certain spot. Some people get angry when someone swoops by and bags an ac in front of you but that can't be helped. In a perfect world people would respect your dedication but given the option to not for need or greed there will always be contention over a spawn. If you can manage a late night session get up to level and sit the oot spawn. Or if you have unlimited patience go nuts in sro.

Lol, waiting around in the daytime doesn't improve your chances of getting the AC in SRO nor does it entitle you to his spawn. I've seen him spawn 90% of the time right at 9pm. I've even sat in the zone, being the only person there all day/night in-game, and seen him spawn without killing a single PH. Again, right at 9pm.

So it is free for all and you better expect it to be a race.
