Default Pets warping, and EQ shutting down.

Are there any fixes to keep pets from warping? I was in Mistmoore yesterday for a couple hours, and I had to train out about five times because of this. After I would kill a mob, my pet would just poof, and agro the majority of the zone. I had the same problem in Lower Guk, doesn't really seem worth playing if there isn't a fix for this.

Another issue that I randomly have, is that EQ will just shut down. The client doesn't crash, I don't go LD, EQ just shuts down. Between the pet issue, and EQ shutting down, it's getting very frustrating to enjoy the game!

Do you get "String not found" in your log when it shuts down? If so, share some info and join the misery over at http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5451

I was having this problem a lot in Sol A. As a necro, I was able to minimize the problem by using "/pet guard" to keep my pet in one place as much as possible. When I'd move to a new location I'd advance alone, Feign Death, and then do "/pet follow" and wait for the pet to get there. This makes sure that when the pet is most likely to warp or have pathing issues that it doesn't aggro anything (since, AFAIK, pets share their owners faction and FD makes everyone indifferent to you).

A couple of other observations: avoid summoning pets while standing close to walls as they sometimes appear on the wrong side and have to path back to you. Use levitation as little as possible when you have a pet as it seems to exacerbate pet-pathing issues.
