Run to the EC tunnel. Someone is bound to help you out...at the very least you could get an orc group.

Not trying to be an ass, just an observation:

People are much less likely to give you gear or plat if you ask for it. The most respect is earned on this server for those that work to get things themselves.

Like Extunarian said, if you run to the EC tunnel, someone will most likely see you and drop some things on you, but this needs to be out of their desire to help, not because you asked.

If I see you there, I will drop some stuff on you.

I'd also like to add that I had a great time starting in Halas with nothing. I saved up for a sowing kit and killed bears to make a suit of tattered leather armor, and did a newb quest in blackburrow for my first magic weapon. I didn't even see the commonlands until level 15.

This is probably the only time you'll be really poor on this server - have some fun experiencing the content that's there for people who have to start with nothing!

The one thing that I respect most is when a lowbie politely asks me for hunting or class tips. Or even just politely asks me for a DS so that they help themselves to level up.

I'm more likely to help you out and toss some plat or random item I have on me your way if you show that you care enough about this server and your future on it to help yourself out first.

Like Extunarian said, some of us started with nothing and went from there. I probably wouldn't still be on this server if I didn't put so much time, poopsocks, and tears into raising a warrior from 1 to 50 without getting spoiled until I reached the planes. Try it out for a bit =P

Great advice.

You really do appreciate the game a lot more when you struggle through your levels and do it on your own, regardless how many long CR's you have or how crappy your gear is compared to that twink sitting in the EC tunnel :P

Going to EC is a good idea. Get a grp, buffs, etc. Also, I recommend sending a /tell to everyone you see selling stuff in /auction, cuz you know they have the cash or they wouldn't be there. Every time they repeat their sales, repeat your plea. If it works for them, I'm sure it will work for you as well.

hope this helps!

I gotta be honest, if someone started sending me /tells begging for stuff, I would be far less likely to give it to them. if you are still going to go the "ask-for-stuff" route, try politely saying something in /ooc about needing advice on where to go for exp, and what weapons/armor to look for for your particular class.

And like many before me have stated, enjoy the "poorness" and work you need to put into your character. It is truly worth it.

Have fun.
