Hi. I last played my old account in about late February and recently tried logging in again but got a "DB error invalid password" message upon each login attempt. I have the latest patch downloaded and replaced old files in my EQ folder. I have also successfully created a new account which I've been playing for the last week, so everything runs fine. I may need a GM to help me unlock my account (and I have a thread in the petition forum I created a week ago with no replies from a GM yet) but I MAY not.
I understand there was some sort of change to the login system around the time I last played. Some sort of move away from the EQemulator site and they ramped up the security, including a request for a phone number to unlock accounts (which I supplied for my new account). However, none of the security features in this section were able to unlock my server account. I put in every email I could have possibly used and none yielded results (this is also true on the eqemulator website). At first I thought perhaps I was hacked, but the people I've contacted in game on my new account who knew me on the old account say they haven't seen any of those characters logged in since about February. Upon creating my new account this week, I tried to use the same password I used for my old account and discovered what I think to be the problem: it said my password did not meet the character limit. My old password was 7 characters and the floor limit is now 8. So while my password used to work (and is probably still valid) for my old account, I believe the reason I am now getting this DB error - invalid password upon each login attempt is because my old password doesn't meet the current character limit. Knowing this, is there anyway for me to unlock my account given that I do know its login name and password (despite it being invalid based on only being 7 characters)? In my post in the petition forum, I gave details of various characters on the account that I believe prove that I am the original owners as no one else could know this combination of details without getting extremely lucky guessing. Another issue that seems to be messing with my ability to login is that I don't know if I ever created an account on this forum associated with that old login account. I'm not sure if that matters or not. The reason I'm posting this in this forum is because I suspect when this change was originally made, many people may have had a password that was too short and locked them out of their account. Since I wasn't playing at that time, there may have been a solution for those people that I am unaware of. Please help if you know of a way I can unlock my account without using a GM. I am perfectly open to using a GM, I just haven't had a response from one yet on my week-old post in the Petition section and am hesitant to contact one in-game because I know they are focused on in-game issues more than login issues.

You can change your passwords on eqemulator.org before you bring it over to the newer system.

I can't seem to login there either, and it doesn't recognize any of my email addresses.

The master account is your forum account at eqemulator.org. Request a password reset for your email there.
Once you log in you can go to the account system and see your game accounts, and change their passwords.

eqemulator.org doesn't claim to recognize any of my email accounts that I would have used. I've contacted the administrator for that site, still have a post in the petition section here...
I went back and read Rogean's post from March which details the change in account login, it specified that there might be issues such as mine. I'm wondering what happened to those people
