I dont think japanese cards were that special. i had at least 1 of each of the original 151 in a folder, but that was because you could literally just walk in and buy japanese booster packs.

I was the first kid to get a blastoise in my elementary school. I was in 3rd grade, i traded it to a 5th grader for a Venasaur card. There was already like 3 kids with Venasaurs but he was my favorite
