In light of the patent office recent decision to terminate the intellectual property rights of the Washington Redskins franchise, I thought it was interesting that political correctness is alive and well here on P99 as well. Perhaps it is classic (See the Erudite Race).
Anyways, TMO's very own Spaniard VonHammer was informed by Derubael that his name was racist and therefore he must change it. His Shaman alt's name, Hielo Negro, means "Black Ice" Ice spanish, which is the name of a ACDC song. Because Americans still have a lot of guilt over slavery, it is apparently offensive to refer to anything by color. Hence, any use of the word black, brown, yellow, or red for identification of a people group is now considered offensive (even though those people uses it for self-identification). Derubael apparently has taken it a step further--simply using the spanish form of black in any context whatsoever is racist (because of the history of the spanish form). I'm not sure anyone would claim it offensive if he used the name "Black Ice" for his toon. That said, it is ironic that because of our fear of offending one group, we are willing to offend another by treating them differently, and refusing to permit them to use a spanish name, where it would be allowed if they used it in the English. It was andro who called deru a racist not the other way around.
Andro has a long history of being a racist piece of shit who will call anyone who disagrees with him a racist. Even if its true in how it went down, naming yourself after an AC/DC song is against the naming convention no matter what language you hide it under. Andro thinks that if you tell him to speak fucking English in game with 99% English speakers you are a racist for oppressing him. If you try and give him any critism he will turn it into a race/language issue to give him an reason to spout his inane sexual bullshit.

Regardless of whatever he said to derubael, the question remains whether the name should be changed.
Now, you say the name policy prevents his name. I agree that it is classic (I had a toon named bomb canada that got removed in live). But my only problem is the reason it was changed was the offensiveness of the name, not its violation of naming policy. And on that note, if we want to change peoples names based on naming policies, then we have a lot of people out there that should have their names changed. Dolic
