Default help killing trolls

im trying to figure out a way to make being helpful (anti-trolling) on the internet cool. ive been using the internet for like 15 years now, and it seems like trolling is becoming overly popular.

i admit that i have been known to resort to this behavior many times over my internet career, but i think it would be nice if the internet was a place where people could go for good information or advice.

any ideas on how to get people interested in this pursuit?

Pretty sure it became popular before you were here. The battle against trolls was lost in and around 1995.

The first step we can make is actually using this word properly.

Peeps were trolling on kali (ipx) network playing warcraft 2 way back in the day. Pretty sure trolling is here to stay.

The only way to kill trolling is to view it as entertainment.

see now when you say "trolling" do you mean the big lumbering beasts hiding under a bridge ready to pounce ? Or do you mean trolling as in the fishing term where someone drives by slowly to try to bait a predator? Always wondered which form of "trolling" people thought they were doing

ignore them and don't reply no matter how asinine a statement is. they're like advertisements in that simpsons episode. the problem is that most trolls these days rehash methods that have been overly done. there's little or no creativity in it anymore.

You mean supposed grown individuals actually using these inter-webs for good & not just to be a dick twister or ass puncher to one another? In theory; it sounds awesome.... will most people do it?...sadly, no.... but who knows...perhaps that enlightenment the Hopi Indians spoke of is finally here... lol
