![]() Played live for a hundred years it seems .... of course it has been several years since I played EQ at all. Heard Red99 had a population again so thought I would stop in and try it out. On Classic EQ with me starting new, which Caster would you guys suggest? I am sure most of my leveling will be solo and I prefer Casters. Not sure how the 4 Caster classes level solo with the Classic style game, anyways just looking for suggestions on which Caster would be better overall for Red99.

![]() Wizard is solid pvp and raiding...farming (other than quading seafuries and otters) and grouping not so much.
mage and necro and chanter all solo/farm well. pvp...not so much tho a well played chanter is solid.

![]() I would not think a Chanter would solo well at all. I have horrid luck with em on Live soloing back in the day.

![]() Seek out groups as much as you can. The group xp bonus is great as well as no hassle having to break pet for xp.
As far as chanter soloing, they are one of the best classes. Can solo pull with calm, charm mob to fight another which you'll root, and when they both get low simply invis yourself or use hide ability to break charm, again root. Nuke and you'll receive full xp.

![]() Yea, you will want to try and find a group.
Chanter is probably best solo class in the game until very late game when Shaman take that prize. Chanter you can handle a room of 4-5 spawns with ease once you get a few lvls on you, extremely fun class to play but NOT VERY FUN IN PVP, at least to me though they for sure have their place, and there are so few on the server you will be in demand. that being said, play what you want

![]() I have 0 regrets on rolling an enchanter. There are a ton of possibilities that are opened when people are in range of you including pve options. You can:
- have a group member perma root your pet so breaks are less painful. - have a shaman/Mage malaise pet without having to break. - use solo tactics in a duo setup and have your friend nuke your pet at low health without breaking charm. - use the above strategy for a charmed named. - mana sieve and weakness spells actually have a use. - if you've got a bard in the group you can endlessly tap his mana supply with tot. - get one of the easiest and cheapest to acquire clicky (glamour rod) for global cooldown refresh. - you're an enchanter and everyone loves you. - a hasted duel wielding pet, although a liability, can be a major asset to a fight. Especially true if you get the jump on someone. I'm sure I'll find more but the experience of rolling an enchanter on red has been a blast for me - especially since the xp bonus has led to full groups which IMO is where you really get to use all your tools. *edit* also planar protector now. Needed a sufficient post to ring me in.
