Weak FoB ganking scheme - common?

First night on the server. Was looking for a group in FoB. Some level 7 monk tells me he has a group for level 3-6 people. Okay. Insane group bonus. Then he gives a loc and starts telling me to come there. I didn't have a map up and I'm no /loc guru, but the coordinates seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. So I just declined. The guy kept pleading for me to come get great exp. Nope. All night leveling I saw him shouting to get people out there. Seems a few dumbasses actually went.

This is like the EQ equivalent of a windowless white van with CANDY written on it.
