Default Gear recommendations for a Bard?

Now that I'm closing in on 50, I've spent the last week or so on a detour to gear out a Bard, the next character I intend to level. (I always wanted a Bard.)

I'm almost done with the Lambent armor quests, as well as the Hero Bracers. I also plan to buy two Golden Star Ruby Rings. As for what I have on hand: I have a Cape of Midnight Mist, Ring of the Goblin Lords, Gypsy Lute and MM Battle Drums.

The instruments I have are a no-brainer, but I could use some tips on a wind instrument.

I would also like some weapon suggestions. I have a Silvery War Axe, Staff of Writhing, Cat o' Nine Tails and the fangs for an EBW. An EBW makes a fantastic OH, but I can't help but wonder if that slot is better spent on a weapon with stats, since Bards aren't "really" a DPS class. Is it worth it to sell the fangs for something more appropriate?

Other suggestions for non-Lambent slots would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, everyone.

EBW will help you a ton at lower levels, especially if you have to solo a bit. You're right bards aren't DPS, but force multipliers, and multiplying by 1.1 isn't all that helpful.

Wind instrument modifiers are useless. I think the only wind songs that get affected by instruments are the remove curse/poison/disease types in LoY. Get a reg wooden flute, or a mino horn from Gorge of King Xorbb if you want to feel special. I would probably use 5/55 rings.

If you cannot afford to have two sets of gear to swap out when you need it, I would suggest stacking hp and dex as much as you can. EBW is a really good main hand, but a shark tooth is a good alternative imo. I don't have time to set up any links for you right now, but check the gear thread and search for Jify's posts on bard gear.

EDIT: My bad, I didn't see that you already had the fangs for a EBW. I suggest a Kicsch Der Pavz for an off-hand.

What about making mez harder to resist?

Ahah! Thank you to everyone for your suggestions, and especially Chicanery. I checked the P99 wiki, and the list of Bard gear hadn't been added; I totally forgot there was a thread for it.

I think instruments will increase the MR debuff component of mez, making subsequent mezzes harder to resist, but I don't think it affects the resistability of the intial mez.
