My experience on red in the last month:

Don't let these guys fool you. Leveling up is a bluebie's game on this server, and you need to "get it out of the way" before the real PVP action at the high end. If you're soloing to XP, you can find plenty of great spots to XP in where you'll rarely ever encounter anyone at all. Even if you need to group to XP, most of the people you run into in range want to trade buffs or group up, not PVP. Even people who you find in range who want to fight will often be willing to group up with you after a fight or two.

Avoid places like unrest, solb, guk, KC, and just generally play smart keeping in mind you're on red, and you probably won't die more than a couple dozen times 1-60 unless you are actively seeking out PVP. Pretty sure Tecmos has died under 10 times still over the course of 54 levels.

When you do get killed, big whoop. It's PVP on a PVP server. Pick nearby (but obscure) bind locations for yourself and dying in PVP takes as much time out of your leveling as taking a shit does (unless you're like me and take your laptop to the bathroom with you). Don't get cocky or defensive in OOC unless you really know what you're doing, or else you'll get shit on by people who are better than you and/or trolls.

Yeah Tecmos is right you wont find much pvp unless you go to Unrest or Guk. Unrest has Sickpuppy's alts and Guk has FoH. Outside of those two your pretty safe.
