Default Spinning in circles, keys not stuck

I have a problem similar to this guy, but the solution doesn't work for me:
http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...ighlight=macro

Last night after the server crashed a lot I had a problem logging in because when entering my password extra characters would periodically be added, as if a macro was running in the background. Example: if my password had 10 characters, after I got done typing 10 characters there would be 14... By paying attention and backspacing over the extra characters, I managed to get on with no further problems.

No extra characters would be added in non-EQ programs. I have no macro programs running.

Today, I haven't had a problem with extra characters being added while typing in my password, but all my characters spin in circles with an occasional step forward. If I hold down alt and/or shift I will stop spinning, but will resume as soon as I stop holding either key down.

Preface: This is not a sarcastic response.

Try unplugging your keyboard and plugging it back in. Or if you have another PC anywhere nearby, plug the keyboard in there and see if it works. This happens to me from time to time and i have to unplug, replug to get it working right again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. If I reboot the whole computer the problem stops, however if I alt-tab out it comes back. Even if I restart the game, the problem persists. The character it seems fixated on is '[' and ']', as well as sometimes the up arrow, down arrow, or left arrow.

Any other suggestions?

Don't you have more than 1 keyboard to try?

Sounds like you have a sticky wasd key to me. when you are spinning try tapping one of them a bit harder than normal.

As the title suggests it is not sticky keys. It isn't held down permanently. As I said, it's like a macro is running. It sometimes goes something like this, where each '.' is a second: [...[.[.....]....UP...[...[..]..LEFT......

There are different patterns (if it is a pattern) and at different times there are different effected keys. As I said, it seems to like [ ] and the arrow keys.
