![]() Quick question for the tech savy. I know at least some of you take great pride in your knowledge of all things tech. This ones for you.
Is there a rough price range on what a computer made solely for playing eq would cost to make? I play on a mac via Bootcamp and have tried just about everything there is available on forums to get the correct framerate without the dramatic and random slows/hitching that seems to be fixed by editing the number of processors your computer uses. Nothing works for me, could be user error. I would hate to think that though, as the one guy in this community who spends more than half of my eqtime just trying to log on I'd like to think that I've covered all my bases, twice. If any of you out there are in the market for some freelance work and interested in making a custom computer hit me up. Don't think it would cost too much, but finding the older parts might give ya some trouble. Also open to any suggestions on where I might go to get a computer like this made. Not open to links about fucking processor affinities, duxa all-in-one or any other bullshit that someone who both speaks and reads english with a intense passion for eq would not find by spending ~40 hours lurking for already. Many thanks. I love this game.

![]() Yeah my mac is top of the line, but that random slow/hitch really fucks me sometimes, game running at like 5 frame/ and the game actually playing at 30/. Also thought it might be cool to have a custom pc for 99, gotta love that upper middle class decadence.

![]() Wouldn't even mind if it made all the hums/clicking sounds just like my old beast from back in the day. Memories.

![]() Iady, relapse is right man, anything will run p99 made in the last 10 years. Sometimes it takes some fucking with, but you can get it running smoothly on any system for sure. I've done this with at least 6 different pcs of varying ages. and helped countless people get it working on their systems in tech discussion.
If you're just looking to spend as little as possible on a system that will run EQ, find something post 2005 and buy it. I say post 2005 because if you're going any earlier than that you're probably getting an expensive paperweight, even if it can run eq.

![]() Strange. Right after I posted this I ran into the guy that introduced me to eq and he's the old tech guy from my school. We're gonna try to resurrect a couple old machines he has layin around. Thanks for the tips guys.

![]() I've got everything to build this except the ram:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/golden-bui...56-gb-ssd.html I may not have all the parts he has but I have about $600 in it. In the end I will have the equivalent of a $1200 mac that I can also install windows on. People on this site who build their own macs generally say they are more reliable than store bought macs.

![]() Buy a Dual Core AMD (Probably $60-100.00 depending on quality you want) cheap GeForce (GTS750 now? - one of those ~$120.00 cards) 2 sticks of 2-4 GB Ram (50-60 bucks) and a cheap HDD (250 gb or something - $50.00 or cheaper?) Get a MoBo: (80 to 140) Buy Windows (or use an old Windows CD you have)
You're good to go, for like 450 or less, and able to play other games if you want to.

![]() I actually have a GTS450 laying around, it was my old vidcard before I upgraded to a GTX580. It costed me 120 bucks back in 2010.
