Default Depreciation of money versus items over the next 3 months

What would keep value better, cash or items? Let's assume Velious does not occur in that time.

This may seem like a no brainer in light of inflation, but I've seen the price of fungi go down some 20-30% in recent weeks.

Specifically, I have around 200k and I will have to take a 2 or 3 month hiatus and start playing in the middle of summer. In summer time are items losing value or is it generally a safe bet that inflation will prevail?

And if items are losing value in summer time, do high profile items (manastone, cloak of flames, etc) remain steady value/increase?

Market has taken a shit compared to how it was a month or two ago (at least for the range of items I buy). It has followed a commensurate dip in population.

In the past, population decline has accompanied low prices. About 6-8 months ago the peak population was closer to 500~, and I was able to buy FBSS for 4k-6k, fungi tunics for 45k, sarnak battle shields as low as 10k, JBB 25kish, torpor could actually be found, jboots above 5k were rare, etc etc etc

I'm not sure it's a causal relationship, but I would be willing to bet if population dips in the next few months, prices will dip as well. I don't really know why.

All I know is, had I kept my 45k fungi tunic instead of given it away, I would have been a happy camper about 2 months ago.

I would expect you could never go wrong investing in a manastone if you want one just to make money a few months down the road. ive only ever seen them increase in value, aside from a few other ultra rares, everything else fluctuates dramatically.

I have been spending some time at fungi the past 2 days and have had a crazy amount of robes, its almost like they changed it so robe is now common and tunic is rare (did this actually happen and i missed it??? the wiki says robe is common and tunic is rare now!?)

Coupled onto that, fungi will no longer be possible with 2 people, and will require a really solid group of 60's @ next patch.

Solid group of 60's? Definitely not necessary.

We will see, but I bet when people have to camp king on his spawn, the least that will be required is 60 shammy, 59 enc, 55+ cleric, 60 tank, and two 57+ dps. Shrooms have incredible resists, and malo and tashani MIGHT give you a 40% chance of landing non-rapture mez or slow.
