Default The Hole pick up raid

I'm looking to get down into The Hole to complete part of my epic. I figured it'd be best to try and set up a pick up raid for loot and to help some people get parts of their epic done.

From my research there are four epic quests that involve going into the hole to kill something: Enchanter, Paladin, Shadow Knight and Shaman.

So what we could do is whomever is willing to help gather some people will claim that mob as theirs if it is up when we go down there. I'm a shaman so I will be going for High Scale Kirn. Try and do first come first serve (with some priority to higher levels) as long as you are high enough level and can provide some benefit to the raid.

All no drop loot will be randomed, with the loot will being spread out. If you would like to claim rights to a specific no drop non-epic piece, note that here.

Now my experience at running the hole is limited to about the zone in (and what I did 8 years ago...) so I'm not sure how much we will need. I'm guessing about 3 groups of 50+ would be suitable for majority of mobs in the zone, please provide info if you can.

If there is overwhelming interest I will plan it for mid week, and if moderate interest for sometime this weekend, otherwise I will schedule it a few weeks out and see if we get enough.

Please post with your class, level, and approximate number of friends or guild members that might be interested.

-Zomunk, Shaman of Taken

I've never done The Hole before, so if I'm not too low I'd be interested for the sake of seeing a zone I never got to see. The wiki says there are mobs that are accessible to someone my level (with some higher level help) but it's a whole different story sometimes when you actually get into the zone and those low level mobs are surrounded by terrifying high level shit.

That said, 43 (on the way to 44) bard interested. Keep me updated if you get it set up.

Note that since you're a Shaman, you don't have to kill High Scale Kirn. Of course you may find it more fun to do so, but strictly speaking he's totally optional. The wife skipped that part of her epic quest. If you decide to go, I can probably come if you go during the right part of the day so do update this thread once you settle on a time.

I know The Hole like the back of my hand. Three groups will be overkill for all but a couple named (like Master Yael). One group of high 50's or two groups of low 50's should suffice for what you want to do. The wife and I are able to duo the majority of the zone. Of course more people will give you a higher kill rate and better survivability in the event of a bad pull. On the other hand, having more people increases the odds of having that bad pull in the first place, so it's a balancing act.

There are some annoying things you have to look out for, like Cleric mobs casting complete heal through walls. This is particularly annoying in the city area. In general the most important job will be pulling; the pull order is crucial. In some areas it's perfectly possible to pull the wrong mob and bring 5-8 things down on top of you. Nearly everything flees, even the undead, so you want snare as well. There are many casters and splitting can be a chore. I don't enjoy pulling from the city area and the wife and I largely avoid the two tower regions. Ideally you want both a good puller and good crowd control. In this sense good crowd control basically means a high level enchanter or two. Many of the creatures, particularly the rock golems and high level undead (wanderers), can be somewhat magic resistant.

The Enchanter epic turn-in guy is usually up. The Shadow Knight epic stuff in there tends to be stuff you have to camp for awhile so I doubt a raid will want to do that. I forget what the Paladin epic needs.

Did Kirn with my guild a week ago. I salute you for doing it the proper way! Too many shamans just faction grind CoM which I think spoils all the fun.

And because of that, I'm telling you how you can avoid the long and hard city fights. Make sure Master Yael isn't up and then jump down in Paineel. Have a cleric use DA to survive the jump and some of the others will survive it too. Mezz/kill the two agro roamers while rezzing those who died. You'll be at the undead tower within 15 minutes.

Good luck mate.

I'd help, but only on weekends since this would probably take place during US time.

Haha, touché [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Guess it was more of a balanced recommendation, then.
