Looking for some guidance

I will try to keep this short.

Started playing EQ in November of 2001. I was 12 at the time. Velious was the expansion, but Luclin released the next month. I played a Monk to 55 and had a level 45ish mage and necro. I enjoyed my time, but really had no idea what I was doing. I think I was just too young to really grasp the game. I still have some really found memories and have that super glossy-eyesd nostalgia when I see or hear anything about EQ.

I heard about P99 a while ago, but at the time was neck deep in wow. I installed P99 and messed around with it some, but really was not ready to get back into EQ. With all the EQN info flying around, I have come to realize how much I miss EQ. I miss the corpse runs. I miss the community. I miss spell fizzles!

I write all this because I want, no NEED, to get back to playing EQ and P99 sounds fantastic. My problem is I just don't even know where to begin. I have no idea what race/class I want to play (not sure I care). I am not sure where I should go to level, what I should do about gear, ect. I really would love to get involved in this game, but I in need of a mentor. If someone wouldn't mind taking me under their wing and showing me the ropes, I would SO appreciate it.
