PSA: Nilbog appreciation thread, Classic EQ preservation, and you

Many posts by Nilbog in bugs today. He is the true saint of this box.

Please realize that the entire draw of this server should be someone logging in and feeling like they are playing classic EQ again. There's plenty of custom servers or easy servers, or even on Legacy of Zek CT was spamming fears and shit and way too hard.

I hope more can appreciate the efforts put in by him, Treats, Ele and Kanras and the respect they have for this game. The game of the future was made almost by accident 13 years ago.

EQ Next is the last hope outside of a kickstarter and it will be full of microtransactions and other nausea inducing features. An MMO kickstarter probably isn't even possibly unless its run like a charity, read: people that would do it comparatively for free.

EQClassic appears to be an absolutely insane mechanical/technical undertaking but there will never be a PvP server (EQ PvP got more dev love and attention than you think) and all of these quest nuances and "class such and such should/shouldn't be able to use this from inventory or at all" will take years if even ever to complete after that project launches. I say years or even ever because as the months roll by, there's more and more pages I can't even get to with the way back machine.

EQ Live has tons more content than this server, and has even infinitely more quality of life things like maps/allowed MQ/allowed boxing and even instanced content I believe.

Try to think for a second about why you really want to be the best guild here, you want to prove your skills in Classic EQ. Why put so much effort into turning your victories into cheap and hollow ones?

Posted in RNF because I can see at least 2 things that may draw some serious ire.

Because the real players only read RNF gen chat is filled with "how can my 3 "girlfriends/brothers" play EQ with me at the same time" threads.
