1018 Error?

When I logged out this evening, My session seemed to crash. I restarted the game and now when I try to get to the Blue server there is a message saying something about an active character and to try again in a few minutes.

It's been hours now and I don't seem to be able to get back into the game?

How do I fix this?

Sometimes when the game crashes the eqgame.exe file hangs and doesnt actually close.

Ctrl + alt + delete > Task manager > More details > Under processes find eqgame and end task.
