Game Mechanics: items not stacking when looted

is anyone else having these problems? i looted several gems last night and none of them stacked i had to do it myself ........

Yes, people hand peris to my cleric and they do not go on my stacks.

I was killing gators in CT today for mage focus items and the meat was stacking, I also looted a peridot from a seafury and it stacked as well.

I noticed the stacking doesn't happen if you have a non bag (inventory) slot open.

I always have 8 containers, still happens.
