yeah it kinda loses its fun factor pretty quick, i dont really feel any satisfaction in this 'static' world, because it feels a lot like a death match and suffers from zergisms.

Played it maybe two weeks, found it pretty damned boring and repetitive.

I played Planetside 1 and loved it. Seen some footage for PS2 and really want to have a go at it! Looks insanely good.

If you like FPS with a purpose (global domination or defence of your territory) then you'll love it versus Call of Duty where you pretty much just run around shooting people to Prestige 100 times to say "I prestiged 100 times".

Also there's the loyalty to your faction - from Terran Republic (was always overplayed on PS1, to Vanu Sovreignity (some weird alien tech weapons, underplayed on my server), to New Conglomerate (had the best weapons I thought).

Some footage with a guy with an awesome voice: http://youtu.be/sFrKQedSf8I?t=41s

PS - Better than DOTA2 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It has no purpose unless you think zerging with tons of tanks and liberators is a purpose. The whole game is pretty much zerging repetitive bases.

Other FPS games do everything Planetside 2 does better, minus the "massive battles" that are just zergs and not all that impressive. Even the futuristic weapons are boring. They have pretty colors but they're bland and unimaginative.

There's also tons of PS1 vets that are not at all happy with PS2. The forum is full of complaints from them. I never played PS1 so I don't know what they're talking about. I just know I was underwhelmed by the game. It's not the worst game out there but if you want to play FPS choose a different game.

^ Sounds like someone didn't join a good outfit. Seriously, outfits are game changing.

I play on TR Jaeger, OP. I joined a good outfit the other day where you have to do mini bootcamp type of thing you would practice anyway as an organized squad like sweeping buildings before a big op, and the practice and effort these guys put into it really shows.

If you're not into practicing squad cohesion and running little mini drills etc. it's probably not for you, though. I personally enjoy it. Putting that hour or so of work I did when I first joined the outfit into practice and sweeping buildings like a pro with my squad feels really fucking awesome.

Alone, the game is like a kind of shitty space BF3 that's free. In an organized outfit it feels like a whole different game.

I was utterly addicted for 40 hours or so, then my interest kinda tapered off. Some of the massive epic battles were pretty neat. It was always pretty gratifying shooting down enemy aircraft in my interceptor.

As was stated above, I think outfits dramatically improve the game's staying power after that initial interest has worn off.

I don't use voice coms so no outfits for me. I'm also not a big FPS fan. I enjoy the occasional Battlefield 3 game but that's it. I much prefer Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Much more suited to the casual gamer who just wants to mess around and have fun.

If EA didn't have their fingers in the cookie jar I think it would be a lot better... sadly too much extra content was given to "premium" players and that completely killed my interest along with shitty player run servers with admins who kick if you're doing well on the opposite team. Never again.

People slate Treyarch/Activision for Call of Duty but whats given (extra guns etc) to those who buy map packs is negligable compared to what BF3 was giving out... and everyone knows at least 3 of the 5 BF3 expansions were a waste of time.

Maybe I'm just old, hard to please and disgusted at the state of parts of the gaming industry [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]. Preowned buyers of BF3 will have to pay £8 ($12ish) if they want to play online as the original buyer will have used the unique code that came with the game. Scumbags.

i dont see the problem with premium edition, it's no different from "season passes" that every other game company releases. I like 5 free expansions instead of a new game every year

and its your own damn fault for joining terrible servers. I've never been kicked for using certain weapons/killing clanmembers/having high score (inb4 thats cuz u suck)
