They don't have a pvp server anymore, so with all the bugs/lack of content, it's not really worth playing. Rogue class is good, really all classes are good. They based their classes around the idea that all DPS classes should be equal, all tanks equal, all healers equal, etc. Warrior class is pretty fun, kind of like warrior class in wow with chain attacks and such.

My high end computer can run the game very well, but I crash often and have been unable to fix the issue after messing around with things for months. Terribly coded game, and barely any developers on their team.

- Who's played it?
... Haven't played it but been in the Vanguard forums too long.
- Thoughts?
... A might have been. The game never got a chance to shine. Bad execution. Wrong expectations.
- Worth a try?
... To see what might have been, maybe, but that's depressing. SOE MMORPG = MegaMudflation.
- Rogue class any good?
... Idk.
- Warrior Class any fun?
... Idk.

... Try Wurm Online. It's old school somewhat and one of the best sandbox MMO's. It has a pvp server named Chaos and a whole series of servers based on pvp and sieging. If you can survive the tutorial and forgive the mediocre graphics, there's a great game to discover that'll blow your mind. Quick download.

If anybody is thinking about trying Wurm Online, PM me and maybe I can get back to you with some information. I play on Chaos. The game is perfect if you like sandboxes and harsh rules. It has no in-game map.

Downloaded it and created a toon. Crashed to desktop within ten minutes of entering the game. That's two strike so far, the first being the fact that my preferred name is taken....

- Who's played it?
I played it when it first came out
- Thoughts?
Its fun, when it was active but it grows old quickly and gets lonely if you don't have others to play with or find people online to dick around with
- Worth a try?
Its worth a shot, every game is worth a try
- Rogue class any good?
Rogues are nearly always fun in any game
- Warrior Class any fun?
Its fun, never got far with it
- Anything else to share?
I hate you

ima diehard VSoH fan. i played the fuck out of the beta as a raki druid and high elf arcanist... but arcanist was never put in game.. and neither was raki druid :C

game is VERY fun. old pixelated graphics reminiescent to eq which was a plus.. new graphics=terribad.

worth a shot. i mean how can you NOT want to be a little midget fox running around blasting the shit outta shit?

I never played rogue heh but rog is always badass in games

Warrior i have been told is difficult, but i also have never played

its f2p now... and aparently they'er putting in work to release Lothenland, Arcanist, and berserker (the latter 2 are classes that were in beta, but not on live. Lothenland was a continent present at launch, but was/is basically blank.) One of the monk paths were removed (Harmonious i believe... maybe drunken) Some interesting class ideas in the game include Disciple (monk w/ manaless heals) Blood Mage(kinda like a necro, but with mage pet and lifetaps. can redirect lifetaps to heal friends) Dread Knights are pretty shitty. Psionist=Enchanter basically. All the Shaman paths are fucking awesome.

This is so true. Vanguard was going to be the very best MMORPG, after EQ. It had very interesting and unique class designs (I played a bard and a blood mage), a vast and beautiful landscape, great lore, and new and fun approaches to game mechanics. But Microsoft was pushing Sigil to rush the product out the door, unfinished and far from being polished. So Sigil went to SOE, in hopes that they would help them to release a better product. SOE pushed them to release too soon, too, and when the game was released it would not run well at all on 95% of PCs, and had horrendous bugs that practically made the game unplayable. This killed the HUGE buzz about the game, and in about 3 months the population was starting to drop quickly.

The PvP servers were all merged into one, like in EQ, and finally they killed that server too. Once that had happened, there was absolutely no reason to play anymore. Now there's just the one blue server, and the game really is a grim reminder of what could (and should) have been. Corporate greed killed Vanguard before it could really shine.

1. Played it off and on starting from mid-2008. I've seen it from being relatively lively to pretty much dead and back.

2. Before F2P I would have said hell no. However, having started back up a few days ago I'm really enjoying myself. There are groups to be had a plenty and chat is pretty lively.

3. Never tried it. Mostly play my ranger and cleric.

4. Have a low lvl one that seems fun.

5. I'd give VG another shot if you have the time. The game is looking much healthier than it did prior to F2P and I think there is a brighter future in store for VG. However, I also wouldn't expect the game to get beyond a single server (MAYBE an additional one) - the combination of a niche game + terrible release killed any shot of VG playing with the big boys of the MMO world. Still though, I'm having a blast exploring Telon again so it might be worth a look.

Played release. Quit before their raid expansion.

Great game graphically with tons of content. Too many wide open areas of nothingness, and not much thought put into a lot of things. Diplomacy could have been so good, especially against other people.

Worth a try? For free? I think you can't equip good armor, so not unless you pay for it.

Rogue - didn't play/unsure.
Warrior - didn't play/unsure.

Anything else to share - vgplayers.com doesn't exist anymore. Weak.
