Magician/Shaman Duo - Is it Legit?

Hey guys, I've got a level 52 shaman -- was wondering if duo with Magician is any good? Thinking it would be because mage pet could eat up a slowed+dotted mob and no xp penalty. Thoughts?

I duoed Fungi King & all of Crypt on blue with my shammy pal all the time. Mage/Sham is just as good as Mage/Cle
