Bypassing Eq Emu server login

I know there is a way to bypass the emu server update thing and just click on EQ icon to open without patching but I can't seem to find the instructions how and I have searched the forums. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

for anyone using the patcher: its fucking terrible, often times has issues try right clicking anywhere on the patcher and hitting "Only Start Everquest", it'll work.
