Default Need new computer any suggestions?

Hey Everyone,
I tryed playing p99 on my 2005 laptop. It works but is very choppy and animation is minimal, i remember playing eq on my desktop that was from 98 and it was better. Of course this was back in the golden era. Any advice on a new computer? I really would like to spend as little as possible, i cant see needing to spend 1200+ on a computer to play a old game. I would like to play it fairly flawlessly...Can i get away with a modern laptop 300-400?Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

my laptop is 2 years, cost me $400 back then, and handles not only EQ but also WoW and Guild Wars 2 (actually wow runs a lot faster than eq1)

For $400 today you can get a lot better. Just make sure to get Intel

really intel why?

had an athlon xp 1800 over 10 years ago that handled eq fine. I have been looking at a few videos of the new athlon processors that integrate the cpu and gpu into one. Looks decent for 300-400 bucks...Think i will probably go with one in that range.

well as a person who spent 4 years of my early work career sending hundreds of burned out AMDs back to manufacturer, I tend to prefer Intel. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
AMD may show show faster performance numbers, but when it comes to reliability I always fall back on Intel. Well my opinion is subjective of course [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
