Default Alchemy Pricing

Hello, I have a couple of quick alchemy pricing issues:

1) Yarrow: It is used in 1 potion, potion of lesser rejuvenation(skill 37). For some reason it costs ~650 plat, making the total cost of this potion several times higher than plain rejuvination (72p) and greater rejuv(132).

2) Balm Leaves: Also used in only 1 potion: Dulsehound which is a combine with hill giant toes. It is also not sold in Halas and it should be. Balm leaves sell for 66plat each. For comparison the combine item with Ice Giant Toes and Cyclops Eyes is Bugbane (7gold). The combine item with Griffon wings is Fever Few (35p) and the combine with Fire giant toes is not sold in Halas, I do not know the price but it is called Dragonwort. It should be sold at the NK Gypsies. There should probably be some similarity in price of all of these components.

I am wondering if the higher level rejuvenation ingredients are priced too low? I remember that these potions were always quite expensive to make, and to most players, the effect simpy was not worth it. It seems like the current 600 plus platinum cost is a bit high, but I will have to look around to see what I can find about ingredient costs.

Balm leaves are supposed to be sold only from gypsies, I believe, so they should not be available in Halas. Also, there were some ingredients added with Kunark, was Dragonwort one of these? I have been having trouble running down which ingredients were post-Kunark.

The waybackmachine is down atm... but I think Nilbog posted the list of prices he used in a wayback link. Once wayback is back up I will try to check for you.

Ok you are right about the not sold in Halas thing, they must have added a vendor by Starn at some point and they are sold in EF.

Rejuv costs: Greater are 132p, they have the identical effect and duration as regular rejuv. Also alchemy potions as a whole are way too expensive. Even selling them for marginally above cost no one has any interest. SOW potions are 72p cost to make 10, assuming no fails, i have never sold a 10 dose sow potion at 100p. 26 point ds that stack with mage DS (at 50) 10 dose cost is 390p cant get 450 for one. So its a pretty pointless skill aside from a few things.

Yes there were ingredients added to vendors in both Everfrost and Innothule, eventually, on live.

I am afraid that alchemy was always like this, nearly prohibitively expensive to develop the skill, and not very profitable for selling or use. On our server, it looks as though Journeyman's Boots will be the thing, rather than sow potions, because the boots are so easy to get. This might change, once the boots quest is put in and the drop is removed from Najena, but I doubt it.

In my opinion, we should leave the ingredients pricing exactly as it was in classic. I know it is frustrating to feel that the alchemy skill is useless, mostly; but if we cheapen alchemy, it's a deviation from our classic goals, and it would really only help the shaman class.

I do think that in a very short time, money isn't going to mean very much on our server, since there is a huge amount of it around now. Players might start blowing money on potions at that point for their alts, since they won't have anything else to do with their cash. Perhaps patience will pay off, if you are hoping that alchemy can become more profitable. Certainly the people who are complaining about melee should take a closer look at the DS potion, it can make soloing possible.
