Game Mechanics: Weapon Skill-Ups bugged?

Coming back to EQ from a long time, now, I may just be retarded but I'm level 5 and my 1HB is still at (2) and hasn't skilled up once.. I put the 1 training point in it at the beginning, what's going on here?

Quite a few people seem to have experienced extremely slow skill-ups for weapon skills.

I can post some logs if desired.

I leveled my 2HS up 100ish points in a 2 hour period the other day, was slow, but not that slow.

They're not too bad depending on what your dexterity skill is.

My Ogre warrior has over 150 dex unbuffed, he is level 23 now and his defense skill is like 20 points off max, his weapons skills suck as well and I am struggling to keep them up. I started working on 2hs myself and that went up like 7 points in a 2 hour period.

So I doubt this issue is based on Dex...I was starting to think it was int based.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Bought my level 20 monk a Wu's Quivering Staff yesterday and headed to lake of ill omen. My husband's druid healed me as I killed mobs ranging from dark blue to yellow. I got 1 skill up out of 50-something mobs.

Thought I was having a streak of bad luck, but if others are having the same problem there might be a problem.

I've been having a heck of a time getting my 2hb skill up too, but I assumed it was just cause I was playing a stupid ogre...

Now that you mention it, it does seem like my alts take awhile to raise their weapon skills. I don't play a lot of melee, so I just assumed it was normal.

Because the game hates us, you see.

Playing my 17 paladin in oasis full group, continuous pulls, ran from dark blues to yellows. I was maxing my weapon skills every orange bubble, but on the other hand other skills such as bash/taunt I was raising to max by the 3rd pull into level. Other non-activated melee skills were also raising much quicker, maybe half the orange bubble before those would max.
