probably not the right forum but how does the puppet string thing work?

It charms the mob you have targetted, thus making it indifferent. Then you turn in yer gem and get a mallet

They actually nerfed it - charm doesn't get you enough faction any more. You have to grind out the faction the long way now.

works fine last i checked. will refund the plat if it was nerfed, incase you are worried :P

If you have ruined your faction with OT - is there a possibility to charm him and get the hammer that way ? Can a lev60 Chanter charm him ?

Yes. I am an Iksar (ie, very KoS) necro and I have done this quest with enslave death. You only require amiable faction to do the quest and pets are amiable to you.

(Lots of other posts about charming on the page too)

From posts on other pages it seems like the quest should be harder (ie, he should resist more, especially if untashed/unmaloed) but it's doable at amiable faction and charming should make you amiable.

edit: just tested it, Jeremy was trolling y'all.
