Default Some sonic bats still seeing through hide.

I know the bats have gone through some changes to who they can detect, some of them still see through rogue hide. It seems to be random, with see-hide mobs spawning in different locations at different times.

Sonic bats are suppose to be able to see invis.

Intended.

hide =/= invis
Didn't we go over this before? Isn't that why they were changed to not see hide in the first place?

Pre Planes of Power, Hide did not protect you against see invis mobs. I do not remember having this discussion or I would have made it clear already. I played a Rogue for 10 years on live.

they talk about mobs that can see through hide and specifically mention fg's and naggy but not sonic bats, and they also talk about running by sonic bats

AFAIK, that is totally incorrect, can you post some evidence of that?

Hi, the link above (from the safehouse year 2000) directly contradicts the notion that sonic bats seethrough hide..

As I recall, Shroud of Stealth shortened the short list of mobs that could see through sneak/hide. I don't recall rogues' sneak/hide getting an overhaul otherwise at this point.

I seem to remember Eye of Zomm scouting NTOV for my guild, since Rogues couldn't sneak/hide past Aaryonar? Kinda fuzzy here. Invis, on the other hand, wouldn't get you past either of the guys before Aaryonar IIRC (if even to there). We quit farming NTOV before PoP launched, probably during Luclin mostly.

From that safehouse post under the theories section.

Quote:
Speed - Speed is tied in closely with position. Some mobs will see though sneak/hide, but NOT immediately. Here's my theory: Mobs have an 'aggro meter'. This meter is triggered by such things as distance away from mob, position in relation to mob (when using sneak), and TIME. I've tested this against sonic bats in Sol B, and it's kind of like this: Sneak/hide past a bat while SoW'd, you go by pretty quick, and 'most times' if other conditions are also working for you, you'll make it by them w/o getting aggro'd. If you aren't SoW'd, you are going slower, and this 'time' aggro meter gets 'set off'. Actually, many mobs can be RAN right past! I've seen time and time again, level 50's in Sol B that can run all the way past sonic bats, Lava Duct Crawler's, and Death Beetle's without getting aggro'd if they are SoW'd and just ZOOM on by them. This is not something that you want to try to rely on, but can be very helpful. Also, when sneak/hiding past bats, sometimes if you STOP behind a sonic bat, or a bug, then a lot of times they will aggro immediately.

That means they see through hide and sneak.

The "go fast enough by a mob" bullshit was an exploit of the tick timing. You could run by some mobs fast enough and not aggro them, regardless of invis or sneak/hide.
