Sword of Runes on Pets

Pets with Sword of Runes equipped are capable of proccing Ward Summoned on players in pvp combat. Is this working as intended? Are players considered summoned creatures?

This is classic. NPCs (pets, mobs, etc) had no regard for these kinds of limitations.
