![]() Preface: At the core of every thread regarding Server Population, there's been a movement to change game mechanics to better suit PVP in EQ. While I believe this project should remain in its classic setting, I do think some changes need to be made.
At this point it obvious we're trying to come up with some type of strategy to improve population. I have no direct plan for a resolution, but instead of countless threads theory crafting a plan, perhaps we can implement some of the game mechanics suggested in other threads and see if they work out ? If they don't then no worries, we move onto the next suggestion to see if it works. Essentially what I'm suggesting is moving the server into a beta environment with everyones current characters, and trying out some of these suggestions. (I understand this would have implication towards the staff of the project due to their time constraints. I have no experience in development, so hopefully someone can chime in and explain if the workload for this en devour would even be possible) I know most of you guys will play no matter what rules are implemented (within reason), so what do we have to lose ?

I assume the majority of what I read here is just bullshit trolling. But this is the first post that has me really asking questions. | ||

![]() I already look at this server as still in an extended beta.
This is not to say that the slate will be cleaned and rebooted at any point, but rather that it's still a work in progress. Not that many people played the actual beta and it didn't mimic exactly what was pushed to launch (faster exp and character transfers and whatnot), so it basically just served to test the pvp resist system mechanics. There are way too many of these armchair solution threads now. I had to think about it a while before I even created that poll thread, because I'd rather not contribute to something that could easily become more problem than help (ie: "THE SERVER IS DYING, HERE I HAVE CRAZY IDEAS" going viral). But I created it because I wanted to narrow focus down into data/results and very actionable items that the staff can use. I've said beaten this dead horse to death already, but I'll reiterate that reining casuals in should be the #1 focus. If they ever kick up the early exp curve and try switching on global chat, I'd wager anything that the population would grow. If anyone disagrees with that then I'd like to know why 80% of the guys I played with/against on every pvp server prior to this won't commit to the grind here. "VZTZ can't handle classic" isn't acceptable logic.
