Game Mechanics: Zoning and spell didn't land but I died...

Somehow I died to Flip's nuke that hadn't even landed yet I was already at the zoning screen. I had 45% HP left when gate went off. -was tricked into porting one of his guildmates... and it was a trap...

This makes me wonder if there is a delay from a player seeing the zoning/please wait message, to the time they actually leave the zone and are still vulnerable.
