Default New to EQ Vanilla

Hola. I just found out about this site. It got me interested in EverQuest again, even though I quit over 5 years ago. I feel lost. I started up a dwarf Pally, since I played a Pally last time, but there's no froglok for me to pick this time. Could anybody direct me to some helpful guide or site that will help me get back in the groove of things? I remember using Allakhazam, but it just looks so foreign to me now, and that doesn't seem like it would help too much finding grind spots and other things. Anybody willing to help me out?

Also, are addons completely compatible? I know this is supposed to be classic EQ, but I don't want to play this version because it's so hardcore. I just want to experience areas I never played since expansions added better grind spots. Something to fill in the blank maps is mainly what I want.

Hm... this will surely be a challenge for you Liar! 5 years ago w/ Frogloks it was definitely much easier, as I also played during that time. (but I did start 3 days after EQ's launch and played until 2005, so I had a lot of experience by then)

If you want to make your gameplay a bit easier, I would start a class that has a decent time soloing - such as a Necromancer or Magician. Or possibly a class that will get groups alot such as a tank (War, Pal, SK) or healer (Cleric especially). You WILL have to group later on, as it's definitely required in the '99 version of the game.

Also be sure to check out the Library thread... full of "old school" help. http://project1999.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2

And in regards to addons - no I don't believe these are allowed or usable.... unless it's just to change your UI, which is just fine. And actually the maps are still in the game, which isn't classic - but part of the client so they are there. So that might help!

Oh yeah.. one other thing - find a helpful newb friendly guild. I have yet to do this myself, but I know it's extremely helpful in helping your experience be much better. When you keep dying alone, and not having any help leveling or getting gear... it can be a bit of a drag. So find a friendly/helpful guild, and your time here will be much better [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
