Default New Player, Where to find groups?

Hi, all.

I just loaded P1999 and am wondering where folks hangout in the game. Are there groups at lower lvls? So far I have seen two people. (I made an Erudite Wizard.) Difficult game solo!

Thanks,
Innfidel

Finding low-level groups can be a challenge right now, because the server is unclassically top-heavy (Green should have been merged into Blue and reset years ago, but that hasn't happened).

Until it does however, https://wiki.project1999.com/Group_Hunting_Spots may give you some ideas.

you joined too late man, p99 has been up for like 15 years
i can only find groups on sub 30 alts right now on weekends and even then most are supported by some uber twink who just lets you tag along

i didnt think people with ntov loot gigamax would delevel to level 5 would be a thing but damn

Crushbone, Oasis, Unrest, Mistmoore, City of Mist is the group XP superhighway. Wizards are going to find it extra hard to find groups too. Friendly Druids is the biggest leveling guild.

Starting with a wiz as your first character is hard mode. Without journeyman boots quad kiting is tough before and after Bonds of Force. It can be done if you can buy Spirit of the Wolf potions. Otherwise you basically have to strafe run a long time until you have enough distance to cast.

I root/blasted my wiz to 53 and quadded to 60. Rooting and nuking works, better if you can bum POTG or are ok with longer AFK breaks.

As for finding groups, later I’d check in WC/EC, North Ro and Oasis (in that order of level profession). Get a bind in west Freeport before you start so it’s not a painful run back. Offer to pull and maybe they will pick you up. It’s really a better solo class.

I started playing EQ in 2000. I was nine years old. I grinded (mostly solo) a shaman to lvl 40 on the Tribunal server. May just re-roll as a shaman...

In any case, thanks for all the replies, y'all. Appreciate it.

It's going to be lonely at very low levels and progressively easier to find duos or groups as you level. Shaman is a fine choice, also nec/dru/enc are typical suggestions for starting fresh if any of those classes interest you. Also if you do /who all dial and message someone in that guild you can get a port and a bind. Just say you're new to the server and they're usually happy to help, as are most people here it's a helpful community in general. Good luck.

Would find your way to EC, people will help you out with buffs and maybe some free newbie gear. I recently rolled a wizard with about 20k plat worth of twink gear and he still couldn't really solo past the first few levels lol so good luck, probably one of the worst race/class combos to pick for a first toon on the server. I did get a lot of buffs from lvl 1-5 killing outside the freeport gates as people would run from EC tunnel to bank and back.
