Parsing in 1999-2001

I’ve heard of P1999 for a long time now, and am going to start playing.

That said, after reading a lot of posts over the years, it got me thinking:

“Did we have damage parsing/heal parsing” in Classic EQ?

I historically played in a high-end raiding guild from Velious to GoD, and I recall damage parsing barely starting to get traction in GoD. Once I started playing WoW, parsing was almost always assumed.

In 2001 though, we just always assumed the Rogues were top DPS, but were there parsers in 2001?
