Default Newcomer to P1999, with some questions~~

Hello. I’m an old EQ player, started on Vallon in 1999 and quit shortly after SOL left me feeling SOL. I recently discovered Project 1999 and am considering trying it out, but have a few questions:

1) I see that the overall pop is about 450 usually... but how is population in different types of zones? E.g. newbie zones, mid-levels (Sol, the OT, etc.), and endgame (Planes, Seb, VP, etc.)...

2) Will you release any expansions after Velious (this page seems to imply you will: https://www.project1999.org/index.php?pageid=about, this one says you won't: http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...d.php?t=1002)? Any estimate on when you’ll release Velious?

3) Any modifications to exp gain rates, overall item drop rates, etc.?

4) I read somewhere that people even will sell a level 50 character for 50kp (https://www.project1999.org/forums/s...ad.php?t=40588). Is that common? Would you guys say the server feels pretty “mature” now as far as all this goes? Or is there still that "new" feeling? I feel like, up to the day before SOL came out, EQ still felt like it had a great spread of players with different levels, goals, etc., but seeing a level 50 character being sold for 50kp makes me wonder.

5) On that same note… do most people have max-level characters, some planes gear, etc. already? That post linked above is kind of worrying me. Sigh… wish I’d heard of this project when it was brand new, and I’d have jumped in for sure, to be among the first doing X or Y. Now it seems things may be too far along for me to feel like it :/

Thanks a lot for any insights/advice!

1. Population is great; some people complain about zones being overcrowded, I think they're silly. I think the population is just right.

2. They have no plans to release anything after velious, and so far there's no clear idea of when it'll be released.

3. All of these feel classic.

4. Not sure what you're asking.

5. There are a surprising number of high level characters, but because of the number of alts people have and the number of casual players, there's enough people to fill every level range. It's really a lot different from other emu servers in this respect. I doubt you'll find it less enjoyable just because you joined late.

I started a little over a month ago. Never have trouble finding groups if I want one. My highest char is only 18. Have a bit of a problem picking one and grinding him through. I guess it is fun for me to try out all the old classes and check out Crushbone, Blackburrow, Najena, Befallen, and Oasis along the way. I actually must say that the server is much more mature than other EQ ones. Definately more friendlier here than on a regular server.

1- Population balloons to 700+ at times. Seems right. Always people in the hot zones, plenty of merchants etc.

2- From what I've read on the boards nobody wants SOL or POP jejeje. Personally, I liked SOL.

5- I'm a casual player I would say. Currently lvl 34 Nec in 3 months. When I started there were xp bonuses that helped me level up. I say jump in and give it a try.

You won't find a better EQ classic server than p99, probably ever. If you want to relive the glory days this is what youre looking for.

1. Population is closer to 750+ during prime time. It's very top heavy though.

2. If they release anything after Velious it will be modified.

3. As close to classic as they can get it.

4|5. The server is essentially a large collection of "uber raiders" from live. The top end is full of farmers who have been manipulating the same camps for months. Look at the ect forum, it's basically the same people selling the same 5-6 items for 150k+

The low end is mostly those people leveling up alts to sell or twink with 500k worth of gear.

There really isn't a "common player" here that made the day to day on live feel normal.

Duma, your post isn't entirely accurate. There are lots of casual players, they just prefer to spend their time playing and not stalking the forums.

The casual players are also not in the 150k+ item market, and if they have wares to sell from leveling up, they probably do it in EC tunnel instead of the forum for it. The vast majority of the thousands of players that play on this server (with prime-time server population of about 750-1000) do so without adding input to the forums. They play the game to have fun and experience things.

The server is top-heavy, I won't deny that. But there are casual players that can be found at all leveling brackets.

I think the common player is out there (me for example) but not very well represented. Technically, a classic server is going to bring the die hard EQ'ers of old which is has. So don't be surprised there are hard core raiders and plat farmers. They are here cause they love the classic experience.
