Default Tailoring?????

Almost every other trade skill in EQ has a decent amount of recipes to gain skills except tailoring...WHY...what am I missing?

I am very curious how people have been gaining skills with tailoring, especially during classic. Did everyone just stop at 115 with the Tailored Quivers?
The Fleeting Quiver was not put in until now. Is there stuff missing from the wiki? Im not trying to live off the wiki but having never done trade skilling before, the guides are pretty well done besides this one.(I only mean as far as the gaps for trivial combines)

I never did much crafting back in the day and I really would like to get to a point of being able to craft some gear for alts or friends, plus the black pantherskin armor looks pretty cool on a monk AM I RIGHT! I have never seen the Haze Panther or Tiger Raptor set and wouldnt mind attempting those...the issue is how the hell do you increase your skill with limited combines and trivial numbers having such a HUGE gap?

I know the Wu's is supposed to be velious but I heard thats not put in until the warrens patch(im not 100% just a rumor i heard)
I know the Crystalline Silk was added when velious launched which would only get you to a max of 131?

So im just asking, if you are willing to say, what combines did you do to get from now 131 up to the 300+ thats required to make arctic wyvern/tiger hide/black panther skin ect.
I have not seen groups farming the ice silk from the worms in WW to be able to risk losing their combine for a sliver of a prayer towards a skill up.

Yes, only truly insane people like Tobe of Red99 raised tailoring pre-Velious using Fleeting Quivers, farming lions in North Karana for months. The clear practical approach is to get it to 115 and then chill until Velious.

Don't count out Holgresh fur as a means of skilling up, too - I'm sure a lot of it is being exported from the Holgresh Elder Beads camp. Some of it is probably rotting. I used Holgresh fur, Wyvern skins, panther skins, tiger skins, and probably other stuff on TAKP.

You might have to put the word out among your friends or guild to crowdsource more materials, in addition to farming your own, of course. It is truly an epic journey and not something you just buy your way up like some WoW easymode crap.

Lastly, if you're just doing it for the Shawl, it's probably better to get to 170ish or whatever and just attempt Shawl combines repeatedly. You only need to get moderately lucky...once.

yeah looking at the tailoring wiki section, i see that othmir fur requires silver thread, holgresh requires Gold thread and Velium Hound fur requires the platinum thread(along with mastodon fur) so that makes me feel like someone entered this information without giving accurate number. Thats just a speculation but im willing to try. I need to finish hitting 115, then work on crystalline till 131, then become a heathen and farm the othmir(yes i know, its hard for me to even type this) but I need to know the trivial for these, then slowly progress up the chain and figure out the numbers.

also i tried the fleeting quiver on green back in classic because the fleeting quiver pattern was being sold in highpass. When i tried the combine it was not in the game. Just kinda suck for tailoring hanging out at 115 cap until velious because nothing (as far as i know) was added for tailoring during kunark.

Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it!

If you want to kill the Otter people, by all means don't let me stop you, but ... Wu's armor will take you all the way to 158, with zero Othmir murder required. It does require an annoying amount of heady kiolas, but that's just more tradeskill RSI, right?

After that you can do the various Velious armors, but it's usually easy to get stacks of arctic wyvern hides off quad kiters, and the mask alone has a high enough trivial to take you to max.
