Unable to adjust gamma in windowed mode

Some time ago (a few months), I lost the ability to adjust screen gama whilst running in windowed mode. In fullscreen it adjusts fine.

Is there a workaround for this to work in windowed again? The images are just way too dark to be playable, and doing fullscreen is not really an option for me.

Please advise

Gamma is unadjustable on purpose.

? For what reason? And why would it then be adjustable in full-screen?

People use it to "cheat" the in game blindness/darkness. I have no idea why it would be adjustable in full screen and not windowed, but I do know that in windowed mode, the game is using your desktop/computer gamma and in fullscreen, it uses the game's.
