Ikky BP at level 54

I am a level 54 Shammy with JBB and I have saved enough to get the Ikky BP but before I purchase it I was curious if anyone else has used it at level 54? A friend suggested I might want to stick with my Phase Spider Carapace while fighting and only equip the Ikky BP when sitting so I dont loose the stats. He also hinted that the regen might not be that great at 54. The current price on the Ikky BP is in the 10K range and that seems like a lot of plat to spend on an item I'll only use while medding. The person who suggested this has not played a Shammy at 54 so he isn't basing his suggestion on first hand knowledge.

Any thoughts?
