Hi!
I just started up again on this server from scratch. I have a lvl 6 Erudite Paladin of Quellious. Have her floating around in Toxxulia forest killing Kobolds and Rungupp! I put 5 in AGI for 75 AGI and the rest in STR (I forget out much) for 85 STR. I'm pretty sure that'll be no problem, since she's a pally and she's an erudite and I'm probably never going to raid with her. I'm having a ton of fun so far, and have me a bronze wakisashi which looks like a really cool Katana [You must be logged in to view images. I am not sure if I should gear more towards STR or AC, I'm sure an even balance is probably the best. I think for solo play STR is probably a little bit better. I'm not going to be doing much other than farming greater light stones for a month when I have time to play and stuff, curious what everyone thinks I should go for! Thanks for all your answers ahead of time and thanks to all the really cool people who've run by and buffed me or saved me from Skeletons out in deep dark jungle.

Luckily, a lot of plate gear has both str and decent AC, so you wont have to choose one or the other. Personally, I lean more to str for leveling because the mobs will die faster. I'm sure one of the forum min-maxers can give you a more concrete answer though.

Every chance you get, have some cast clarity on you. Thorns and regen are great but don't last as long.
Solo as an erudite paladin-non twink is a rough road. You will have serious downtime between fights. Try to duo as much as you can! You have the right idea about strength and AC. Those should be the only 2 stats to worry about at all in the early levels. Having a lot of HP will help keep you alive, but AC and strength will help you with efficientcy. I've got a level 11 Druid named tuckle, hit me up in game and I'd be happy to duo with you. I play mostly in the late evenings PST

Don't worry too much about str above what you tend to carry, when you get to grouping, AC and HP are more important than your damage output ^^
Coming from an ex-cleric... be a great tank and leave the dps to the dps classes [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Well.. I managed to get level 10. Not sure what to do now. I'm thinking buy a cheap magic weapon WTB PGT? SBS? Though still not quite rich enough for that. I really do want to spend some decent solo farm time with the wisps though so I can get up and down.
Thinking of doing droskos zombie quest and getting a staff of thunder for farming wisps with. I bet that'd be viable around lvl 14 or so. I hate the idea of begging or grouping right now. Not sure. I love quiet out of the way places where I can level on a mob that has a 30 minute spawn timer or something I don't have to worry about sitting on and being active at. I know there's a wiki list of camps that list active/passive solo camps and stuff. I just wanted to bump this thread and say Hi, yeah, I read it, for some reason my posts aren't going through [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Shoot me a tell (Sooby). I can port you to wherever you want to go and give you a little starter cash so you can have a decent weapon.

Sounds like we have similar play styles [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I've solo'd my entire way up to level 28.
Best of luck in your hunting. I'd suggest hitting Blackburrow for gnoll fangs then doing bandits in West Karana. Those will net you some plat to buy gear.

Today is a lazy Friday so I may put some concerted effort into playing this weekend. IDK yet! Anyway, all the advice in this thread is great. Yeah, swish2 <3 I hear you 100% on AC. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up Tuckle. I'm so random with this game now. It's what has kept me away from it for years. It's still a great world to relax in. I've leveled a cleric mostly solo to 40. So I sorta know what it's like. Once I have some gear it'll be easier to do random Norrathian adventure things as a paladin. I would echo the "pick AC over str" argument: keep enough str to carry your stuff comfortably and not be missing constantly (probably shoot for 120+), but beyond that AC will do a lot more for you, especially at lower levels. Even just a full suit of banded/bronze will get you a lot of minimum hits from enemies until 30+.
Get some deepwater pieces (especially the helmet by 45 at the latest) and crustacean shell armor pieces when you can, and pick up a baton of faith at level 20 for around 100p. Sword and board is awesome but a 30/40 ratio 2-hander at level 20 is by far the best boost you can get for a while, and it's pretty effective for root-jousting.

Strength is a quality of life stat: You need it to carry your armor and loot you pick up. Erudites don't start with a lot (I regard them as borderline inadequate in that respect) so you'll be on the lookout for more strength for a good while. Armor pieces that have strength in addition to other stats you want (orc fang earrings, treeweave, et cetera) are good low-budget items to look for. Strength is mediocre as a damage increase. It *does* increase maximum (and hence also average) damage dealt, but you need a lot of strength to notice good damage improvement. The main means of increasing your damage done are by improving weapon and by improving worn haste.
In general Paladins solo steadily up into the 30's, and with increasing difficulty to about 50 or so. Past that Paladin solo remains technically doable, but it becomes so slow that most players (myself included, to be sure) won't have the patience for it anymore. It's primarily a grouping class.
