Default Low Level in Plane of Fear

I have a question. On live, when the Plane of Fear first opened people had a heck of a time figuring out how to break in.. Once they did, I recall that some low level players got in. Apparently they hadn't locked the plane to the current level requirements (lvl 46 to be able to enter). The concern was with low level twinks getting in to loot planar items (or causing nasty trains). Was this done on P99 when Plane of Fear opened? I doubt it but was just curious. I seem to recall that at least one low level player even got bound in there.. It's been a while but I recall hearing and reading about it back then.

I am pretty sure the level 46 requirement was in place at launch.

What you might have heard was that fear was left unlocked at a time when it wasn't supposed to be live yet (server launch). So the GM's had to lock the zone until the official unlock date after a few people ventured in there. It was a long time ago though... I'm sure somebody here remembers the details.

(EDIT: I am talking about this server, not live)

I know I have a lvl 2 monk in full shiverback in Fear on Live. Not sure if the same thing happened here.

Of course on live, fear loot is now comparable to newbi quest items in many cases.

I started playing EQ at launch and I remember this as well (they put in 46+ because too many lower levels were crowding the zone to get a view when high levels were present).

This is my recollection as well. The zone was officially open and people were finally able to break in. Low level players were getting in and were getting some crazy good loot (there was no level requirement on loot back then). They eventually placed the level requirement on the zone. I could probably dig up the patch nots for this and other details around it.

I had asked about this more as a curiosity to see if this was also done on P99. I would suspect not as people know all the details about getting into fear and the twinks would be rampant.

It was very easy to hack the client back in the day, and not many checks for it on the serverside.
