Default Mage focus items

I want to just buy everything for my level 1 mage but not sure that it's worth doing that early. Any input would be appreciated.

The focused Water pet is very durable, hits hard, and holds early aggro like an absolute champ from lvls 4 to 24. I personally leveled by putting a flame shield on the water pet and sent the thing in and would nuke 2 to 3 times to out damage the dumb thing to get max exp, and had a leveling speed that was faster than a Necro for those low levels. That's all I cared about.

From levels 24+, odds are you might start doing the reclaim thing right towards the end of a fight and summon a new pet with each kill. So the Fire pet might be your best bet for that stage of leveling on up. So the short of it is, I'd suggest just getting the Stein, level the character, and at 24 if you like the class still and want to keep going - get the other items then.

The earlier you get them the more use you get out of them because eventually they no longer boost pets.

Also, it's nice to have them all, sometimes you might be in the mood for a fire pet which kills quickly but can die fast due to low hps, other times you may feel like having a super beefy earth pet.

I just like having all four focus items and the earlier the better so you can enjoy them longer.

I farmed all four in one afternoon quite easily on my druid.

Pro tip: look for merchant in appropriate zones (NK, Lavastorm, OoT, etc.) you will usually find most components for sell, and not too expensive at all [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

They are obviously good items to have on a mage. The question is how much time/money are you willing to spend on him?

As for getting only the Stein, or Torch, or whatever, you don't really decide what drops in Najena, but yeah I recommend Water/Fire, then Earth, then Air, if you have to choose.

Holding a shovel or a broom is also nice FashionQuest, so more points to you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It basically gives the archetype of pet a hp boost that brings it up to the next tankier archetype.

Ie fire pet now has air hp. Air has water. Water has earth. Earth has a nice big jump up.

It makes them more durable but not stronger in the sense of raw damage output.
