![]() So Wednesday night I tried logging on only to get the typical unknown error. After a half dozen attempts to log in eventually the entire server select screen is blank.
So off to google I go. Normal search of: blank site:https://www.project1999.com/forums/ comes up with a dozen or so hits. I first try the easy fix of change the eqhost file; no luck. Change it back, still no luck. Then I try the bypass the patcher and make a shortcut on the desktop from eqgame.exe and include the patchme at the end. Still no luck. Next up I decide to delete my entire eq directory and install into a brand new c:\project1999\everquest directory. Ok, this finally worked. Woohoo, off to Wakening Lands. Thursday night I finally have time to log in for a bit of goo squishing. Normal attempt to log in and voila, blank server select. Try a dozen or so times, all blank server select screens. Once again I do everything as above including delete my eq directory and create another new c:\p99EQ\everquest directory.....and still no luck. Go unplug the router and modem, delete the p99EQ directory. Plug the modem then router back in and reinstall EQ once again. Woohoo, log back in and play a little while. This morning (Friday the 22nd) I sucessfully log in with no problems. First try and I'm happily killing goo's. So here it is, 10pm pacific on Friday night and I try and log back in. Guess what? Blank server select screen. I've logged in a dozen or so times. My password takes but all I see is a blank server select screen. Even trying the quick connect from the log in screen just tells me I can't do the quick log in and it'll take me to the server select screen....which is of course blank. I'm here begging everybody that might have an idea WTF is going on with my computer/network/internet that has made getting into EQ so problematic. Do I really need to uninstall and reinstall EQ plus reset my entire network every-time I want to play? The game is awesome, people are great, atmosphere is fantastic but I'm loosing my hair faster than I should because something is wonky. Please, I just want to know how to fix this.

![]() That is a huge process. Start always with the simple. Reinstalling is the last thing you want to do.
First things first if sever select goes blank then it’s a connection error. Just exit out of the game completely and go for a smoke. The more you press it sometimes makes it worse. It makes no sense but patience is key to this. If it happens after a smoke or a shotgun/shot then reset your connection. Not the modem just plug your cable or disconnect the WiFi and reconnect. If all else fails always have a clean install folder as a backup. Install it and leave it somewhere off the computer. THis will allow you to troubleshoot if further problems happen. Which it sounds like it will. Other things to note is the login server has been wonky lately so it’s not just you so don’t fret. 95% of the time it’s a connection issue.

![]() Thank you Tupakk. I'll pull my usb wifi adapter and try again.
Do you know if it matters which USB port I plug my wifi adapter into? For now I have it in a 3.0 plug in the back. I also have a 3.0 plug in the front, a 2.0 plug in the front and 2 more 2.0 plugs in the back. I got the TP-Link AC1300 dual band adapter specifically because several websites claimed it was the best one for communicating with our TP-Link router. Is there a better than reasonable chance my adapter and router aren't communicating? I have the latest driver for my wifi adapter but haven't looked at the router firmware.

![]() This happens to me at least once or twice a day lately. It only started in the last month or so and its very frustrating. I don't know how to fix it other than sometimes I have to restart my computer and wait a bit. Eventually the servers show up on the list and I can get in. I can't imagine if I needed to log in real quick for a batphone, I'd be screwed.

drill through a brick fireplace and run a 25' ethernet cable from my system to the home router. or drill through three walls and run about a 50' ethernet cable from my system to the home router. On the plus side; I was able to log right on this morning and play for awhile with no issues. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
