Game Mechanics: Hide not working after selling

I haven't been able to figure out whether this working as intended or not. I've been looking around The Safehouse forums - no dice.

The problem (bug?) is that sneak/hide doesn't take after selling to a hostile merchant, even though the message has said it did.

Specifics:

I am a dwarf rogue, level 22, sneak (111), hide (114). I go to Grobb to buy arrows from merchant Zazhar. I have had sneak/hide on since I came from the Innothule zone. I get behind the merchant, open buy/sell window, sneak and hide break, and I buy some arrows quickly before closing the merchant window. Now, I hit hide quickly, and it says I have succeeded. Sneak fails once or twice, and then sticks. I then con a guard (Basher Avisk) as KoS and some merchants facing me as dubious. I have to remove sneak and hide and redo it for everything to con indifferent.

This is not the first time this has happened. I have died to the same guard before, due to this, before I started getting wary.

You should take off hide before attempting to buy
