![]() I have a question for those of you that have achieved the upper echelon of status with the necro class...
What do you do at 60? I ask this because I currently have a 60 enc and a 55 necro. I try to enjoy my necro after playing my enchanter but it seems like EQ asks a bunch of questions and my enchanter always has an answer...my necro, well, I'm left saying to myself "I should log on my enc, this would be way easier". Once you hit 60 on a necro is there any thing you can really excel at that an enchanter can't do better? I don't mean this as a flame to necros as I have one, but just curious if I'm missing out on some grand revelation. Perhaps I'm only viewing this through the lens of class power and solo ability.

![]() Honestly, the only place I feel I have the upper hand over an enchanter as a necro is on Hill Giants and Seafuries where my pets and fear/root rotting are more efficient than charming.
There are places I can solo efficiently, like howling stones. But outside of that, it's usually messy and an enchanter could do it better.

What? Enchanter is way better at furies than a necro. Alize always lasts full duration at level 54, has 10k hp and can kill a fury in less than 30 seconds. You can clear the whole island by yourself in less than 10 minutes. All without going below 95% mana.

![]() I have to agree with that also. If I charm the level 45 dwarf merchant give him a torch and haste him, he shreds a SF in about a quarter of the time it takes me to kill one on my necro wrong with the rogue pet.
In addition, I can easily take out any of the other annoying cyclops such as corrupted and Quag by slowing them and having my charm just dominate. I can also sell in zone.

![]() Enchanter is a better soloer in almost all situations but it's a trade-off - necro has a much lower risk involved due to self heals, FD and insta invis.
So you gotta factor in all the times the enc dies and has to CR naked and maybe find a res, or sit for 15 minutes to regen lost HP, while necro can just tap an eye or a mob and be ready to go in a minute. Of course if one is a godmode Enc who does Brood mother at level 54 with little difficulties, he probably never dies in EQ, so this doesn't apply. =)

![]() Something has happened which I did not expect. I would go as far as to say my survivability on my enchanter is actually better than my necro
With close to 1000hp in runes and fast casting stuns, I find it much easier to recover from charm breaks. On my necro, if I have a hasted and dual wielding charm pet I find myself much more likely to die when it breaks. ST does not cast fast enough and it is resisted too often and I often find myself under 20% hit points on a recovery from a break. Because of this, I usually don't haste and torch. Thus much lower DPS.

![]() At 60 I think a necro is more limited than I had imagined. There are several things that a shammy/enc can do that is simply impossible as necro. Having said that there are decent solo spots you can do effectively as necro at 60 like SS or Kael. And the good thing about the necro as a soloer is the survivability/safety the necro offers. FD is about my favorite thing in EQ. Having small kids I often will sneak in some EQ here and there and FD is just amazing. Also being able to 93% rez yourself on top of the built-in efficiency of lich + life drain just makes for an all around great casual soloer.
But in terms of "min/max" soloing end-game stuff necro can't keep up with the chanter (or shaman)
