Default Necro Pet Weapon Damage Question

I'm using a level 44 Necro pet and most of the time, I never equip him with weapons and my pet will do kick, slash and bash between 20-45. At this level and higher level pets, should I equipment them with some form of weapons or will they do better damage unarmed?

from my own experience, summoned pets won't do additional damage once their base damage is more than what the weapon would offer them, nor is it especially useful when the pet gains the ability to naturally dual wield (a 44 pet is one of those of course).

I will hand him a pair of knives (rusty or summoned) just to cheer him up and make him feel special.

I guess what I'm asking is does it matter the type of weapon you give the pet for the pet to do maximum damage? I don't want to be giving my pet fine steel swords when it will do that same damage with rusty steel swords.

I believe it only matters at low lever when a weapon's damage is higher than the pets max damage. I doubt at 44 you will be able to make a difference either way.

Does secondary only triple atk trick work on summoned pets? Or only charmed? Cuz if it works the answer is just hand 'em a torch.

As per weapons on pets in general, the dmg/dly doesn't impact their rate of hit or dmg caps, as others have stated. The only time you're going to see pets on weapons is for procs. Deadwood staves for lifetaps, gnoll hide lariats for stuns, etc. etc.

You may want to try some charm killing, it's sexy fun times

Weapons with procs can be helpful. Such as stun whips, lifetap sticks from kaesora, or even wu's trance sticks.

This becomes a lot more useful tho when charming undead, as you can always recollect the weapons and use them again later.
