New player -- and question on IPs

Hi all, brand new EQ1 player here. I've played MMOs for over a decade (mostly EQ2, WoW, and Rift), but my husband always waxes poetic about his times in EQ1, and finally convinced me to try out P99 with him.

So a question...I was all excited to play alongside with him, but....we can't. IP restriction. Anyone know what we could do about this? I filed a petition, but it hasn't been approved, or answered, and our vacation time is almost up. I was really, REALLY freaking wanting to play with him over our holiday, but that's not happening. So, questions:

1. Anyone know what the average time is for them to do an IP allow? I'm hearing anything from 3-4 weeks (OMFG PLEASE NO) to a couple of days. Is there a sacrifice of some sort I can offer up to try and speed the process? Goat? Chicken? Pizza?

2. While waiting on said IP allow...would it be a horrible idea to implement a VPN or IP change of some sort? No idea how that goes here, I am, again, getting mixed replies on it...from yeah its cool to YOU WILL BE BANNED TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH.


Sorry if I am being a bit twitchy, its just rough having to take turns playing, and NOT being able to play with him too.
