Default Charisma - for the lulls!

So i've been soloing dungeons a lot lately while doing homework, and as a result have had to make obscenely prolific use of soothe. Unfortunately, I get crit resisted around 20-25% of the time. I've read that level is the major component in these resists, but some people have also suggested that carrying some charisma gear might help.
Does anyone know of a magic number one should shoot for to not get a stupid amount of critical resists? Would 20 or 30 extra be enough to see a big impact? I'm currently sitting at 55 charisma as a dwarf paladin, so there's a lot of room for improvement.

Thanks [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

55 is horribly low. My troll shaman has more than that unbuffed. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
I would try for at least 100-110. Ideally the higher the better.... charisma gear is relatively cheap.

You definitely want 100+...and it's a pain having to switch lots of slots so try to invest in high cha items like a siryn hair hood and a crude stein as a minimum.

Personally I'd reroll a SK and not be subject for a cha check when lulling the dead, and FD when you do get a crit resist [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

CHA plays a small part in lull/charm/resist. It is mostly Your level VS the Targets level + targets MR.

Lots of debates on Lull resists on p99, if its higher than live or not.

I can't say how true this is here and for pali. on live, I played a 50bard with 255 cha and experienced something like 2 resist on a whole ldon dungeon, with frequently not a single agro on the resist. I can't say the impact here, but on live and for bard it had a great impact

I actually started one, and may pick it back up at some point. But ultimately I decided to start with the knight I had already put 30 levels and retarded amounts of non-level time into. Have to slim down my alt time for school, heh. Guess i'll just have to buy some charisma gear - at least i'll look prettier while doing my barrel rolls!

I always thought it was level check for resist, then if its resisted it checks cha for the crit resist

Well that would certainly explain why I see twice as many critical resists as normal ones. And really I don't care so much about the non-crit ones, so if that's indeed how it works then it sounds like the cha will be a good investment in my situation.

Kobold Jester Crown (+30 CHA)
Crude Stein (+15 CHA)
Peerless Dragonskin Mask (+13 CHA)

That puts you at 113 CHA, and only requires you to swap one item (the Stein) out for combat, as the Crown and Mask both have sufficient AC to be worn while tanking if needed. You can go really crazy with more CHA gear on jewelry and such (my Human Pal can hit over 180 CHA with his CHA gear) but it's not really worthwhile in most cases. I generally just swap in the Crown and Stein for most pulls, only bringing out the full set if it's a critical pull (i.e. room full of casters or deep in a dungeon).
